Deep Sea Baby

It’s Winter time here in Brisbane, which is a difficult time of year for those of us accustomed to more balmy conditions. I start shivering when it is less than 20 degrees (yes, centigrade!).

It does however bring two magical things to this part of Australia – clear seas and whales! I’m yet to see a whale underwater though you can often hear them, tormenting divers with their songs, smug with the knowledge they are just out of site. The first time I heard one I was convinced something was wrong with my gear and spent the dive feeling around behind me to check it wasn’t about to suddenly fall apart. Aah whales.

These photos were taken on the Outer Ribbon Reefs off Port Douglas (part of the Great Barrier Reef). The fish are a school of very large barracuda – the water was like glass!

I'd love to know what you think!
